Mortgage Rates Surge To 2026 Record-High Levels

As the war with Iran escalates and investors become increasingly concerned about the Federal Reserve’s ability to control inflation, mortgage rates reached their highest level in a year. According to Freddie Mac data, the average 30-year mortgage rate increased to 6.66%, reaching its highest level since July 2025. And after the Federal Reserve decided to keep short-term interest rates unchanged, rates are likely to increase even more.
