Johnny Depp’s French Village

Many celebrities are known to buy expensive vacation homes in beautiful locations. But when actor Johnny Depp bought a whole French town next to Saint-Tropez, he elevated the concept of a vacation home. At the height of Depp’s popularity with the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in 2001, Depp bought an abandoned 19th-century Provencal village about 17 miles from the southern French destination of Saint-Tropez. The expansive home, which reportedly cost $55 million, quickly became the actor’s ambitious restoration project.

According to reports, Depp spent $10 million over the ensuing years rebuilding and modernizing the estate’s aging structures while maintaining a large portion of its original beauty. Depp allegedly decorated every building himself. In 2015, Depp tried to sell the village with an asking price of $25 million. However, there were no buyers and, in 2021, he re-listed the village for $55.5 million. It is believed that Depp has now delisted the village.
