According to the people at Coldwell Banker, some wealthy homebuyers are expanding their home bases, combining parcels to gain privacy, security, water frontage, space for guesthouses, staff housing, gyms, spas, gardens, and sports courts. Some are also purchasing nearby land to preserve views or prevent future development. “Landmaxxing,” according to Coldwell Banker, is the practice of wealthy buyers building private compounds by acquiring nearby residences and empty lots.
